This little fella grew up with a Sherrin in his hands and mud on his knees and reckons every other sport is just killing time between seasons. Mr. Specky knows every club song by heart, has a membership scarf collection that could insulate a house, and hasn't missed a Grand Final since he was in the womb. He can name every Brownlow medallist since Skilton, knows exactly what "a behind" means when no one else on earth does, and has been in at least three friendships that ended permanently over a disputed mark. He's got a guernsey framed in the lounge room and a fantasy footy team that's caused more stress than his mortgage. He's tried to explain the game to an American once. Once. He refers to the MCG as "The G" and says it the way Catholics say "The Vatican." He doesn't understand rugby. He doesn't respect soccer. And he calls NFL "a game where blokes in helmets stand around for three hours." Grand Final Friday is his Christmas. Grand Final Day is his religion. And the pre-game entertainment is just something to yell over. He'll die in his team's colours. Probably at The G. Probably arguing about the umpire.
